How to Change a Downlight Bulb in the Bathroom?

1. Turn off your light switch, but you can turn off the breaker linked to the bulb you are changing if you want to be sure.
2. Use a step stool or a ladder to reach the bulb. To avoid the potential of slipping on the stool or ladder, place a rubber mat or a towel under it. Don’t attempt to step on your bathtub or your skin to reach the bulb.
3. Depending on the model of your bathroom downlights, you either twist the clear cover until it comes off, or you can rotate the perimeter cover and pull it down.
4. Once the cover is removed, reach for the bulb and twist it until it comes loose. Screw the replacement bulb. Test if the bulb is working. If not, replace it with a different bulb that works. After you turn off the lights again, attach the cover and you are done!

How Many Downlights Are in the Bathroom?

• Zone 0 – Area inside the shower or the bath. It requires an IP67 and above.
• Zone 1 – Area above the shower up to a height of 2.25m from the floor. IP45 is the minimum requirement, but IP65 is recommended.
• Zone 2 – Area stretching 0.6m outside the bath perimeter up to a height of 2.25m from the floor. It requires at least an IP44 rating.
• Outside Zones – Areas outside zone 0, 1, and 2 where water is less likely to be present. There's no specific IP necessary, but an IP20-rated downlight is recommended.
• You can use IP65-rated downlights all over your bathroom (and other rooms).
