A dimmer module for LED and traditional lamps

This rotary dimmer module works in both trailing edge and leading edge modes, so it can dim a wide range of fittings. It comes set to trailing edge, which suits dimmable LED lighting and helps avoid flicker as you adjust the brightness. Switch it to leading edge for incandescent bulbs, halogen lamps and magnetic low-voltage transformers. Don't use leading edge with LEDs, as it can cause buzzing or flicker. That makes it useful where a project mixes different types of lamp.

Small enough for tight spaces

At 56.8 x 25 x 43.2mm, the module fits behind a compatible switch plate or in other tight wiring spaces. That helps on retrofits, where the room behind the switch is often limited by the back box and existing cables, and keeps new installations neat.

Control from two places

The module supports 2 way switching, so the same lights can be dimmed from two points, such as the top and bottom of the stairs, both ends of a hallway or by the bed and the door.

5W to 150W load

The total connected load must be between 5W and 150W. Add up the wattage of the lamps before you fit it. Several dimmable LED lamps can go on one circuit as long as the total stays within 150W.

Fitting

The body is tough polycarbonate. The module runs on 220-240V AC mains and its terminals take cable from 0.5mm² to 1.5mm². It complies with BS EN 60669-2-1. Have a qualified electrician fit it, and check the terminals are tight and the load is within limits.
