Decoder and master in one unit

This unit works two ways. As a DMX512 decoder, it takes a DMX signal from a console and drives the LED lighting connected to it. As an 8-bit DMX master, it controls other decoders on the same line without a separate console, either as a five channel dimmer or as an RGB controller with 25 built-in programmes. You can adjust the programme speed and brightness. It also supports RDM (Remote Device Management) for two-way communication.

OLED display

A full OLED screen shows the DMX address, channel mode, PWM frequency and dimming curve at a glance, and three buttons let you change settings on the unit. It is easier to read than a basic three-digit display, so setup is quicker.

Three DMX connections

The unit has an XLR3 port with three-pin male and female connectors, an RJ45 port for running DMX over CAT5e or CAT6 cable, and a green screw terminal with an amplified output for hard-wired systems. Daisy-chain several decoders on one DMX line. With more than 32 decoders, add a signal amplifier, and fit a terminal resistor at the end of the line.

Output

The unit runs on 12-24V DC, with five constant voltage output channels of up to 6A each, for up to 720w in total at 24V. It suits RGB, RGBW and RGB+CCT LED strip, with 1 to 5 channel decoding. Use it only with constant voltage LED products and a suitable constant voltage power supply, never with constant current fittings.

Smooth, flexible dimming

Set the PWM frequency from 250Hz to 16kHz; higher settings cut visible flicker on camera, which suits studios and retail displays. 8-bit or 16-bit greyscale gives 256 or 65,536 levels, and the gamma can be set from 0.1 to 9.9 to shape the dimming curve.

Protection

Overheat, overload and short-circuit protection are built in, with automatic recovery once a fault clears, and there is a fast self-test function. The iron case is 170 x 86 x 39.5mm, rated IP20 for dry indoor locations, and works from -30°C to 55°C.
