4 Channel DMX512 and RDM LED Decoder, Screw Terminal, Constant Voltage, 12-48V DC

DMX control for LED strip

This 4 channel decoder takes a DMX512 signal from a lighting console and drives constant voltage RGB or RGBW LED strip. It also supports RDM (Remote Device Management), which adds two-way communication so you can change the DMX start address or adjust settings remotely.

Screw-terminal in and out

Pluggable green screw terminals take bare wires for DMX in and out, with no soldering or special connectors, which suits retrofits and existing systems where connectors don't match. Daisy-chain several decoders on one DMX line. With more than 32 decoders on a line, add a signal amplifier, and fit a terminal resistor at the end of the line for a stable signal.

Set up on the unit

A digital display and buttons let you set the DMX start address on the decoder itself. It uses four DMX addresses, with 1, 2 or 4 channel output modes to suit the fittings.

Output

The decoder runs on 12-48V DC. At 12V and 24V each channel gives up to 8A; at 36V and 48V each gives up to 6A, which works out at 96w, 192w, 216w or 288w per channel and up to 1152w in total at 48V. Use it only with constant voltage LED products and a suitable constant voltage power supply, never with constant current fittings.

Smooth, flicker-free dimming

Choose a PWM frequency from 250Hz to 32kHz; higher settings cut visible flicker for cameras, shops, showrooms and exhibitions. 8-bit or 16-bit dimming gives 256 or 65,536 levels for smoother fades, with logarithmic or linear dimming curves.

Self-test and protection

If the DMX signal is lost, a self-test function starts, with five modes (L-1 to L-5) for commissioning and fault-finding. Overheat, overload, short-circuit and reverse-polarity protection are built in, with automatic recovery. The iron case has a built-in heat sink.

Where to fit it

The case is 175 x 46 x 32mm, so it fits in control cabinets and equipment enclosures. It is rated IP20 for dry indoor locations and works from -30°C to 55°C.
