The control unit for stair lighting

This controller links the step lights and sensors of a stair lighting system so they work together. It decides when the lights come on, how they fade from step to step and how long they stay lit.

Motion-activated

Two PIR motion sensors come with it. When someone approaches the stairs, the controller lights each step in turn, so the way ahead is lit without anyone reaching for a switch. When nobody is on the stairs, the lights stay off.

Set the light from your phone

The controller connects over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi to a phone app. From the app you can dim the lights, move the colour from warm to cool white and set the timing of the step-by-step sequence.

Power and capacity

It runs on 24V DC and gives a 24V DC output of up to 20A, a maximum of 480w. It can run up to 64 steps, so it suits long or split staircases as well as a standard flight. Use it with 24V step lights and a suitable 24V LED driver.

Size and fitting

The unit measures 97 x 68 x 24mm and is rated IP20, so fit it indoors in a dry place. If you're not confident with electrics, have an electrician wire the system.
