LED Battens
A LED batten light is designed to be a top commercial lighting solution. These lights are valued for their high energy efficiency and remarkable illumination. Aside from that, you can get these fixtures in both indoor and outdoor versions. They're perfect if you have a garden workshop or outdoor lounge that you want to light up!
Commonly, a LED batten light is installed in the office and other industrial places that need incredible brightness. However, you can also add them to your home, like in the garage, basement, or storage room where you need an efficient light source for ease of navigation.
How to wire up a LED batten light?
Wiring batten lights should be done by professionals and should not be carried out without having prior experience. If you know that you're not that good with these types of tasks, better get an electrician because they know more about these things. But, if you know what to do and just looking for a guide, here’s a step-by-step procedure:
- Decide the location of your LED batten, measure the ceiling, and mark the fitting's central point and fixing point.
- Determine the isolation point and switch off the circuit.
- Attach the main spine of the batten lights to the ceiling with the screws included in the product.
- Wire the batten lights using the push-fit, and loop in/out the terminal block.
- Snap-fit the front of the batten to the installed spine securing tight the safety screws.
- Switch on the circuit and power on your lights to test.
Are LED batten lights dimmable?
While not all batten lights are dimmable, some specific models are. Having dimmable lights increases your energy efficiency because you can control their brightness level. With that, if it's still a few hours before the start of work, you can dim your lights, so you still have illumination but with less brightness, as it's still not needed. On the other hand, if you're already in full swing, you can brighten your lights to keep your employees focused and productive.
What size LED batten for a garage?
There are various LED batten sizes that you can choose from, with each varying in lumens output and width. Depending on the size of your space, the size of your batten may also vary. However, here are the usual measurements that you can get: 2ft, 4ft, 5ft, and 6ft. Also, when it comes to width, these lights are available in slimline, wide, and standard. So, first, check the square feet of your garage. Generally, 50 lumens per square foot is the recommended minimum to ensure that your garage is well-lit. So, from there, you can plan which type and size of battens you will get.
In addition, also take into consideration that your garage can be exposed to rain/water and jets of water, so it's best to use an IP65-rated fixture. With that type of protection, you're sure that even if your garage is exposed to so much water, your lights will not cause a significant accident.
