4 Channel DMX512 and RDM LED Decoder, XLR3, RJ45 and Screw Terminal, 12-48V DC

DMX control for LED strip

This 4 channel decoder takes a DMX512 signal from a lighting console and drives constant voltage RGB or RGBW LED strip. It also supports RDM (Remote Device Management), which adds two-way communication so a console can read the decoder's details and set its DMX start address remotely. That saves time on large installations.

Three ways to connect

The DMX signal can come in through a green screw terminal, XLR3 male and female connectors, or an RJ45 port, so it works with the cable you already have. Daisy-chain several decoders on one DMX line. With more than 32 decoders or a long cable run, add a DMX signal amplifier, and fit a 90-120 ohm terminal resistor at the end of each line.

Set up on the unit

A digital display and buttons let you set the DMX start address on the decoder itself. The output can run in 1, 2 or 4 channel mode.

Works without DMX too

Built-in RGB and RGBW programmes and a 4 channel dimmer mode can be picked with the buttons, so the decoder can run simple colour scenes or static lighting with no DMX controller connected.

Output

The decoder runs on 12-48V DC. At 12V and 24V each channel gives up to 8A; at 36V and 48V each gives up to 6A. Maximum total output is 384w at 12V, 768w at 24V, 864w at 36V and 1152w at 48V. Use it only with constant voltage LED products and a suitable constant voltage power supply.

Smooth, flicker-free dimming

Choose a PWM frequency from 250Hz to 32kHz; higher settings cut visible flicker on camera in shops, showrooms and studios. 8-bit or 16-bit dimming gives 256 or 65,536 levels for smoother fades, with logarithmic or linear dimming curves.

Protection and fitting

Overheat and short-circuit protection are built in, with automatic recovery. The aluminium case is 165 x 70 x 38mm, small enough for hidden indoor spaces, and rated IP20 for dry indoor locations.
