An LED sensor and emergency tray for a bulkhead

This gear tray replaces the old tray inside a bulkhead fitting and turns it into an LED light with a motion sensor and emergency backup. It suits corridors, stairwells, lobbies and storage areas, where light is needed when people pass through and must stay on in a power cut. It is a gear tray only.

Light only when it's needed

A built-in microwave sensor switches the light on when it detects movement, including round corners and through doors, and lets it go off when the area is empty. That saves power and means no one has to hunt for a switch.

Emergency light

If the mains fails, the built-in emergency feature keeps the light on for up to three hours, long enough for people to find their way out safely.

Pick the colour

A CCT switch sets warm white 3000K for a welcoming lobby, natural white 4000K for everyday areas, or cool white 6500K for crisp, bright light.

Output

The tray gives 1725 lumens from 17.5w over a wide 120° beam, so light reaches the edges of a corridor or stairwell. The LEDs are flicker-free with a CRI above 80, and sit on an aluminium circuit board. Average life is 35,000 hours.

Fitting

The tray runs straight from 220-240v mains through an isolated driver. Wires push into the 3-way or 4-way quick-fit terminals. It works in temperatures from -10°C to +40°C. If you're not used to electrical work, use a qualified electrician.

Things to know

The tray is rated IP20 on its own, so it should be fitted inside a bulkhead housing. It is not dimmable.
