Towering commercial buildings, gymnasiums, community centres, industrial facilities, and warehouses have lofty ceilings, which may render a regular lighting fixture useless and lacking. Because of their vast vertical and horizontal space, a much more powerful lighting solution is required to provide these massive establishments with an appropriate amount of illumination. Thankfully, there are incredibly bright fixtures that are made to address this kind of situation. One of which is called high bay lights!
LED high bay lights usually hang by the ceiling using hooks, pendants, and chains or are mounted directly to the ceiling. This fixture is used to give light to spaces with ceilings that are higher than 20ft from the ground to around 40ft high. High bay lights are perfect for indoor spaces with a more corrosive or harsher environment and require proper positioning to achieve correct illumination. Normally, this fixture is water-resistant in consideration of its typical application.
Do you need high-bay LED lights?
While LED bulbs, LED strip lights, LED downlights and LED wall lights are all excellent commercial lighting fixtures to include in your lighting design, they may not be enough for spaces with about 40ft vertical clearance. You may end up crowding the area with fixtures, whereas there’s a much more efficient and simpler way to confront the problem - by choosing high bay lights. However, not the conventional alternatives but opt for the LEDs! Why?
-
Low maintenance requirement - LED high bay lights to have a longer average lifespan compared to a non-LED version. Because of this, you don’t need to change them frequently, significantly decreasing your maintenance cost and lessening the trouble of replacements. Considering the height where high bay lights are, the amount of work that goes into changing a busted bulb is immense!
-
Better light quality - compared to other types of artificial lighting, LED high bay lights are far more outstanding. It stands on top in all aspects of light quality! High bay LED lights have a better colour rendering index, correlated colour temperature and foot candles.
-
Enhanced energy efficiency - LED high bay fixtures to generate and distribute light differently, which results in less energy needed to emit the same light output. Because of this, you don’t pay more than what you get!
How long do high-bay LED lights last?
LED high bay lights can last for 50,000 hours or longer. While it does not burn out like other lighting fixtures, a LED high bay’s lifespan is measured using lumen depreciation. When it reaches 30% of the lumen depreciation, it marks the end of the fixture. Although it says that an average lifespan of an LED high bay light will last about 50,000 hours, it can still work beyond that. It’s just at a reduced light output.
Where are high-bay LED lights typically used?
Most of the time, you’ll see high bay lights in, as mentioned before, high-ceiling places. This includes warehouses, factories, industrial facilities, universities, schools, gymnasiums, municipal establishments like recreation centres and community centres, department stores, malls, indoor pool complexes, greenhouses and many more!
