LED lighting has developed the industry, propelling it to greater heights and establishing an era of energy-efficient, long-lasting and impeccably brilliant lights. One of the most common forms of LED lighting is an LED bulb. It's used in different residential and commercial establishments, incorporated in various furniture and design pieces and utilised for an assortment of purposes. Indeed, LED bulbs have revolutionised lighting for everyone and continue to improve the lives of people.
Among the several types of LED bulbs, B22 LED light bulbs are mainly used with household furniture in different rooms. Unlike the famous Edison bulbs, the B22 LED light bulb doesn't have a screw bottom. Instead, it has a bayonet base with a 22mm distance. The B22 bulb is often referred to as the standard bayonet bulb and is primarily seen in pendant lamps and other lamp fixtures that you have in your bedroom. That's also one of the reasons why they typically sport a warm white LED light.
How different is a B22 Bulb from a B22 LED Bulb?
Physically, you may not notice a significant difference between a regular B22 bulb and a B22 LED bulb. You'll only see disparity once you receive your electricity bill. B22 LED bulbs are more energy-efficient than standard B22 bulbs. Also, the LED version has a longer average lifespan, more than 10 times than the non-LED variation.
By switching to your old B22 bulbs with a B22 LED bulb, you'll be able to reduce about 90% of your energy consumption, which is a big deal, especially since lighting is the second-highest energy consumer in your home!
Aides from that, you'll also lessen your maintenance cost since B22 LED bulbs can last for about 25,000 hours! A conventional incandescent bulb can only last for around 750 hours, so which do you think is worth buying?
What colour temperature does a B22 LED bulb come in?
B22 LED bulbs come in a broad spectrum of colour temperatures. You can get them in cool white, natural white, and warm white light, and it's measured in kelvin. The higher the kelvin count, the cooler the colour. The lower the kelvin count, the warmer the colour.
Since B22 bulbs are applied in lamps, you either see it warm white if the fixture is used for ambient or accent lighting or cool white or natural if the fitting is used for task lighting. It's advised that for rooms where you relax, you integrate warmer lights for a cosy ambience. Alternatively, cooler lights are better for spaces where you work and need attention to detail.
Which is better, a bayonet or a screw?
Bayonet bulbs are faster to mount because you just have to push and twist them. Whereas a screw bulb like an E27 light bulb needs to be rotated a few times before it's completely screwed into the light bulb holder. Also, a bayonet bulb is more secure than a push-fit bulb and more resistant to vibrations than the two. Nonetheless, all the types of bases have pros and cons. It's just a matter of finding the right one to suit your needs.
